Finding new paths
to future energy

Wind turbines

The technology to yield electricity from a spinning propeller has existed since the late 19th century, and ever since RESSAB built their first wind turbine in 1994, we’ve continued to carry that torch, building aerodynamic designs to set new high standards.

We offer cutting edge technology and design for systems that make controlling wind turbines easier and safer than ever. Make the best of every situation – even in harsh weather conditions – and optimize the system’s production of energy.

Generating power from the wind is no small engineering feat, and there are different generators that serve their respective purposes for producing electricity on both smaller and larger scales. We offer expertise in the mechanics, hydraulics, and magnetic performance of wind turbine generators, and much more.

We have produced countless products and services in regards to generators, from selling spare parts to offering maintenance to keep them at their peak performance.

Iron flow batteries

RESSAB can offer a flow energy storage solution, which is good for voltage regulation and short response times, especially in off grid. Flexible, safe and low-cost utility scale energy storage solution.

A flow battery is an electrochemical cell where two chemical solutions are separated by a membrane. Ions are exchanged across this membrane, producing chemical energy and electricity.

The FeCl2 flow energy storage system to be used is the only one in the world that is completely without environmental impact. The electrolyte consists solely of iron, salt and water. As such, the storage is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-explosive and 100% environmentally safe. Importantly, this energy storage technology is able to operate in high-heat environments (up to 50C) without need for auxiliary air conditioning or cooling.

The storage systems are designed and built as individual turnkey units and housed in 40ft shipping containers.

A reduction-oxidation (redox) flow cell is an electrochemical storage device which stores energy in a chemical form. During charging cycles, iron is attracted to the carbon electrodes and starts a plating process. During a discharge cycle, the polarity of the cell is reversed, and the iron then wants to naturally dissolve back into  a solution, giving off electrons in the process. By using the same electrolyte on the cell, there is no risk of cross-contamination issues (unlike all other flow storage designs).
